We believe in… the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting
“If someone dies, will they live again?
All the days of my hard service
I will wait for my renewal to come.
You will call and I will answer You;
You will long for the creature Your hands have made.”
Plants have amazing powers of regeneration. A felled tree, even if it seems for a while to be dead, is often able to sprout again from the stump. But for human beings, there is no such hope; death is the end of our earthly existence and there is no returning from the grave.
Unless… unless the eternal God ‘remembers’ us – because He is the Creator who has the power to give life even to the dead (Romans 4:17) and whose love can reach us even in the grave. If He still knows us and calls us (as Jesus called Jairus’ daughter – Mark 5:41), then there is a possibility of life and fellowship with Him beyond death. “Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear His voice and come out…” (John 5:28,29)
