The greatest gift

We believe in the Holy Spirit.

Luke 11:13

“If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”

Even though people are basically sinful, we do a lot of good things. All normal parents care for their children and do their utmost to give them what they need. And our God is the perfect Father; everything that He gives to His children is good (James 1:17).

Now the Holy Spirit is the greatest of God’s ‘good gifts’ – for God is giving us nothing less than Himself. This gift is promised to every single person who believes in Jesus, wherever and whenever they live (Acts 2:38,39). It is the gift of the Spirit that marks us out as the people of God (Ephesians 1:13,14), that makes us God’s children (Galatians 4:6,7), and gradually transforms us into the image of Christ.
